Question: Traveling

We have an upcoming trip and we’re expecting the little one to be relatively mobile by then (he’ll be 9 months).  We will be flying there so we’re trying to keep the “stuff” to a minimum. The room we’re staying in will have 2 double beds.  We’ve been on a few shorter trips recently which have taught us that 1. He does not sleep in the bed with us any more. I don’t get why, he just won’t! and 2. he also won’t sleep in a pack and play or a crib (the only downfall to the floorbed so far)

Any suggestions on things we might try that have (or you think will) work for you?

We have done a little bit of traveling. We stayed in a rental house on a Disneyland trip and my daughter slept on the trundle bed underneath the bed that I was sleeping on. I made sure the trundle couldn't roll and used pillows and rolled up blankets to block off any cracks and to cover any dangerous spots. We stayed at a cabin: my husband and I shared an air mattress and she slept on top of a very thick sleeping bag next to us. At my parents house: she sleeps on an air mattress that is wedged between the foot of our bed and the wall. All of these options have worked fine. I just try my best to make things as safe as possible, always sleep in the same room with her, and do many more checks to make sure that she is okay. I make sure that she can't roll into any cracks or under anything and double check before bed that there are no small objects on the floor. Ofthe options I listed above, I felt the most comfortable with her sleeping on top of the thick sleeping bag. There was no worry about cracks or falls or anything else.

Love the sleeping bag idea! I think thats what we'll go with. Thanks so much! Sara
