Question: Safety of mattress against wall

Safety of mattress against wall

0

Hello:

We have a 5 month old who is in a moses basket on a mattress on a floor in his bedroom.  Still a work in progress, I have been thinking about ‘officially’ going the floor bed route.  (Currently he is in the ArmsReach over night or in the crib in our bedroom if our toddler is seeming particularly precocious).

How do you ensure there is no gap between the mattress and the wall?  Were you at all concerned about safety, and if so, how did you address the concerns?

The mattress isn't a perfect rectangle so there is going to be a gap in the corner, but otherwise, the mattress is pushed up right against the wall. I have the mattress on a non-slip rug which prevents the mattress from moving. HTH.

We built a wooden frame around ours that fit perfectly with the corner it was going in and held the mattress extremely well (which, in hindsight, had made sheet changing a little difficult but at least I know there are no gaps!).
